Product Description An educational program for children featuring poetry by the greats from William Shakespeare to Langston Hughes.
Amazon.com Young children are instinctively drawn to the sound of rhyming words and the rhythmic cadence of poetry. Add colorful animation, music, and footage of real elementary age children, and Classical Baby has created an appealing half-hour program that encourages an early appreciation of poetry. Produced in association with The Poetry Foundation, Classical Baby: The Poetry Show is a compilation of 13 favorite poems from poetry masters like William Shakespeare, John Keats, Woodie Guthrie, and Gertrude Stein. Famous personalities including Gwyneth Paltrow and Susan Sarandon recite poems like Elizabeth Barrett Browning's "How Do I Love Thee?" and Robert Frost's "Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening." William Carlos Williams reads his own "This is Just to Say" while Hoagy Carmichael performs Johnny Mercer's "Skylark" and young children recite poems like William Carlos Williams' "The Red Wheelbarrow." Poems are accompanied by bright animation that's highly appealing to children and many are followed by brief comments from elementary age children. Some preschool and elementary-age viewers will be transfixed by the entire production while others will pick and choose the segments they find interesting, but what's most important is that every young viewer gains exposure to the art of poetry. --Tami Horiuchi

My kids love this! August 28, 2010 CharmingBirdie (cALIFORNIA) My two kids love this and so do we! It's fun, great to listen and a sweet learning tool!
Not What I Expected. July 14, 2010 Yolande Webster (Florence, Alabama, USA) This DVD is great for kids who want to know what poetry is. The poems cover a wide range of styles and the kids commentaries are nice.
It's magical! May 24, 2010 Sandy (Westlake Village, CA) I bought this CD for my little granddaughter when she was one year old. She just turned two and this CD still casts a spell over her whenever we put it on! "The Swing" and "How Do I Love Thee?" are her favorites, and she can quote several verses from the latter.
Gwyneth Paltrow: if you ever read this review, I want you know that there is a little two-year-old girl who thinks you are simply wonderful! Well, of course, she does think you are a Mommy Rabbit!
utterly enchanting half hour March 13, 2010 Lisa Guerci (NY, USA) I came upon this on hbo yesterday by 'accident'. What a lovely accident! I was thoroughly entertained, soothed, and entranced by what I was hearing/seeing. It was touching to hear some of my favorite poems talked about by these sweet, bright chidren, sung, read by stars and the artists themselves. It was a TREAT that fed me to my soul
Perfect. March 3, 2010 Tara Cunningham (Baton Rouge, LA) My kids love the Classical Baby series. It gives them a greater appreciation of art, classical music, dance and poetry. I would recommend to all parents to have in their collection.
